Dolores Catania reflects on Melissa and Joe Gorga’s marital woes


Dolores Catania doesn’t want small fights to bring down Melissa and Joe Gorga’s 16-year-old marriage.

Catania, 50, attempted to say a few words of wisdom on Wednesday’s episode of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” after the couple engaged in an explosive brawl earlier in the episode.

“Don’t fight her over this shit,” Catania told Joe on the show. “Don’t waste the best years of your life worrying about things that don’t matter.”

But Joe ignored Catania‘s comment.

Cracks in the once-strong union between Melissa, 42, and Joe, 41, have been revealed this season, which was filmed last summer. In Wednesday’s episode, tensions came to a head after a group dinner, when Melissa boarded a van to return to their Jersey Shore home before her husband.

“What happened? You aren’t expecting me,” Joe said, to which Melissa replied, “Why am I waiting for you?

Joe then suggested that his wife had “changed” over the years as she had gone from a stay-at-home mom to a businesswoman.

“We were so attached, and I’m still like that, she just changed,” Joe told an audience of other “RHONJ” stars Margaret Josephs and Jackie Goldschneider, along with their husbands, while elsewhere in the world. episode Melissa remembered her initial attraction to her husband.

But things have improved since the couple’s filming, parents of children Antonia, Gino and Joey.

Melissa told Page Six in February that her relationship with Joe was “good” after struggling.

“Look, I’m not going to deny that we’ve been through a rough time, like a year and a half, and I would say it started right before the pandemic,” she said.

“We’ve been on reality TV for over 11 years. We are still going strong. We are always together. We still have our family. But we’ve had a few bumps in the road and we’re being honest about it and fighting for it.

Wednesday’s episode of “RHONJ” touched hearts in other ways as well, as Joe and his sister Teresa Giudice honored their late father, Giacinto Gorga, with a celebration of a life event.

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
