Frank Joseph Catania Obituary – Cape Cod Times
Frank Joseph Catania, 70 of Barnstable, MA and Naples, FL passed away peacefully on July 2, 2022 with his beloved wife Kathy and sister Debra by his side.
Frank was the first child born to Vincent and Marie Catania soon followed by 5 siblings. Frank was the epitome of older brother and all 5 siblings have wonderful and entertaining stories to tell about their early years together. Frank has spent his career working in family businesses starting with the Pewter Pot Muffin House and then the Catania Hospitality Group which owns and operates Hearth ‘n Kettle restaurants, the Cape Codder Resort in Hyannis and the Dan’l Webster Inn in Sandwich.
He has been active in the community serving on various committees over the years and was a past president of the Hyannis Chamber of Commerce. During his tenure, he was proud to bring Hyannis the first Father’s Day classic car show that is still active today.
He retired in 2007 to spend more time enjoying life and he did! Frank enjoyed cars (from sports cars to vintage), motorcycles, boats (owned one of the first hybrid motor sailboats), golf (he was a member of the Cummaquid Golf Club for many years), watching Celtics with his brothers and his winters in Florida.
Frank has many friends, business associates and employees who have benefited from his kindness and his ability to make everyone feel important to him in his presence or in conversation. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a hint of sarcasm if you knew him well. He will be deeply missed by his entire family and the many people who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Akerson Catania, his mother Marie Catania, his sister Debra Catania, his brothers Steven Catania and his wife Kathy, Richard Catania, William Catania and his wife Libby, Robert Catania and his wife Sheri. His aunts Adeline Carter and Rita Campbell, several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Vincent Catania and his uncle Joseph Santo.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday 7/12/22 at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Rd, East Sandwich, MA 02537. Interment will follow immediately at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
